Red blooming ahead of Guineas
Red Bloom, ante-post favourite for the UltimateBet.com 1000 Guineas, satisfied Sir Michael Stoute in a gallop before racing at Newmarket today.
The Freemason Lodge handler sent the daughter of Selkirk to work over seven furlongs in company with stablemate Strider on the Rowley Mile course.
The Cheveley Park Stud-owned filly took a lead from the three-year-old maiden colt, with Kieren Fallon happy to sit on Strider’s heels before kicking on two furlongs out to lead past the stands.
Stoute was content with her effort and confirmed that the filly is on course for the May 2 Classic.
“That was a gentle little workout but we didn’t learn anything new. We will put her back in her box now and we will go straight to the Guineas,” he said.
Red Bloom was made favourite for the Guineas after winning the Fillies’ Mile at Ascot last September and she currently heads Ladbrokes’ market on 6-1.
Stoute, Cheveley Park and Fallon teamed up last year to take the 1000 Guineas with Russian Rhythm.
