Irons stars in predictable hijacker outing
THE FOURTH ANGEL stars Jeremy Irons as workaholic London magazine editor Jack Elgin whose wife and daughter are killed in a botched airplane hijacking.
Jack and his son Andrew (Joel Pitts) survive, but their lives will never be the same again.
Jack becomes increasingly frustrated with the fact the killers were released without charge and turns to embassy official Davidson (Jason Priestley) and friend Kate (Charlotte Rampling) to get some answers.
He soon realises the only way he’s going to get justice is if he takes the law into his own hands.
As one by one the hijackers meet grisly ends, FBI agent Jules Bernard (Forest Whitaker) is assigned to the case. He’s convinced Jack is behind the killings and a deadly game of cat and mouse ensues.
The Fourth Angel isn’t a classic but it has some good points buried beneath a fairly predictable plot. The performances of Irons and Whitaker are well worth noting. Teen pin-up Jason Priestley’s performance is, however, as stiff as the posters he used to adorn in his Beverley Hills 90210 days.
Just about worth renting, but don’t expect it to live long in the memory.
