SFI directors wins achievement award in US
02/04/2004 - 14:40:32Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) Director General, Dr William Harris, has today been awarded the Wiley Lifetime achievement award by California Polytechnic State University in recognition of his commitment to education and research in the sciences.
The prestigious award recognises national leaders whose work exemplifies "extraordinary leadership and lasting contributions to American higher education and public life".
Dr Harris is the second recipient of the award.
Dr Harris joined SFI as Director General in 2001. SFI is investing in academic researchers and research teams who are most likely to generate new knowledge, leading edge technologies, and competitive enterprises in the fields underpinning biotechnology and information and communications technology
