Carrie Ford struck a blow for women riders - and new mums - by winning the Martell Cognac Fox Hunters' Chase on Forest Gunner, trained by her husband Richard.

The twice champion female amateur gave birth to a baby girl only 10 and a half weeks ago and the Grand National fences held no fear for her as she landed a famous victory.

Forest Gunner (13-2) led a long way out and ran on strongly to hold the strong-finishing Sikander A Azam (11-2 joint-favourite) by eight lengths.

Gun’N Roses II, the other 11-2 joint favourite, was seven lengths further away in third.
