Kenny accuses Taoiseach of 'hypocrisy' on terrorism
18/03/2004 - 19:06:15Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny has accused the Taoiseach of "hypocrisy" over his position on combating EU terror.
Mr Kenny has said it is unacceptable to call for united EU action to stop terror while the Government's own Criminal Justice Terrorist Offences Bill published in 2002 remains to be debated in full.
The Fine Gael leader has said the Taoiseach has one agenda for foreign terrorism and a different one for domestic paramilitary activity.
Deputy Kenny said: "The Government at the moment refuses to debate and discuss the issue of common security and defence from an Europe perspective. How then can we credibly call for united action in dealing with global terrorism when we as a Government refuse to take action ourselves."
