Irish patients entitled to treatment in Europe

The European Commission has stated that patients who are on Irish waiting lists are entitled to travel to other EU member states to receive treatment.

The Commission has said patients who are on lengthy waiting lists in this country have the right to travel to other European countries for hospital care.

Irish MEP Avril Doyle raised the issue of treatment with the European Commission and has said patients who have been failed by the Irish health system must be made aware of their right to travel for treatment.
