Business group: ‘Smoking ban will exacerbate litter’

The Irish Business Against Litter organisation has claimed that 200 million extra cigarette butts will be dumped on the streets every year due to the Government’s workplace smoking ban.

IBAL claimed local authorities were facing a massive clean-up bill to deal with the situation.

Most workplaces have not provided outdoor smoking facilities for their staff for when the smoking ban comes into force on March 29.
