Chelsea to bid for Beckham - report

12/03/2004 - 09:54:41
Chelsea are planning to make a bid for David Beckham in the summer because the England captain is having trouble settling in Spain, The Sun says.

The Real Madrid midfielder has not renewed the lease on his Spanish mansion, cancelled plans to put his son Brooklyn into a private school and is releasing his translator, the paper claims.

It would reportedly cost Chelsea £140m (€205m) to buy out his contract. Real paid Manchester United £25m (E36m) for Beckham in July.
