Redmond contiues at Tribunal after health scare

12/03/2004 - 17:23:25
An ambulance was called to the Mahon Tribunal today following a health scare involving George Redmond.

The former Assistant Dublin City and County manager has been attending the inquiry almost every day since Tom Gilmartin began his evidence.

79 year-old Redmond has been given permission to attend the tribunal from Clover Hill prison where he is serving a 12-month sentence.

He was seen falling shortly after the tribunal resumed after lunch and tribunal staff called an ambulance as a precaution.

Two medics examined Mr Redmond on his feet and recommended that he go to hospital for a check up but Mr Redmond declined and said that he wanted to stay on.

Afterwards he thanked the Tribunal staff for their concern but assured them that he was all right.

Mr Redmond intends to cross-examine Tom Gilmartin on his evidence at a later stage. At the moment lawyers for the Taoiseach Bertie Ahern are questioning the property developer.
