Public asked to keep quiet at Tribunal

Members of the public attending the Mahon Tribunal at Dublin Castle have been asked to refrain from laughing or clapping while evidence is being heard.

A note to that effect was placed on every seat in the public gallery before this morning’s proceedings.

Tribunal Chairman Judge Alan Mahon had already warned members of the public that laughing and clapping during the tribunal proceedings was inappropriate.

Yesterday, the public gallery burst into applause when property developer Tom Gilmartin described the actions of those running the country in 1989 as “despicable”.
