Prison doctors to take industrial action from Monday
24/02/2004 - 14:20:36Prison doctors have announced plans to take industrial action from next Monday as part of a dispute over the standard of healthcare provided in Irish prisons.
The dispute between the Irish Medical Organisation and the Prison Service was sparked by a report on the structure and organisation of prison healthcare services.
The review said such services should be improved to ensure that prisoners receive the same level of care as other citizens.
The IMO has accused the Prison Service of failing to act on the recommendation.
