Parties seek EU recognition for Irish language
24/02/2004 - 08:26:21The main opposition parties are due to table a Dáil motion today calling for Irish to be recognised as an official EU language.
The motion will be debated during private members’ time today and tomorrow.
The Labour Party said yesterday that Ireland’s presidency of the EU provided the perfect opportunity to press the case for official recognition of the Irish language.
