Minister rules out paper vote records
24/02/2004 - 13:08:56The Department of the Environment has ruled out the possibility of the Government altering its electronic voting plans to provide a paper record of every vote cast.
The growing controversy over electronic voting was raised at a cabinet meeting in Dublin earlier today.
Environment Minister Martin Cullen is believed to have presented a number of proposals aimed at allaying public fears about the system.
However, speaking afterwards, his spokesman said the Minister had no plans to introduce a verifiable paper trail.
