Neptune 87 MDS Star 97

The opening quarter was a typical Star game, milking the clock and frustrating the home side.

Star took a two-point lead (23-25) to end the quarter.

Neptune picked up the pace at the start of the second quarter and opened up a 40-32 point lead.

However, Leahy and Campolieta conbined well to restore the Star lead by one point as the half ended at 45-46.

The third quarter was a shoot-out between Gordon Fitzgerald, who had eight straight points answered by John Leahy, with the quarter ending 64-73 in favour of Star.

Neptune never really troubled the visitors in the final quarter and Star maintained their lead to finish 87-97.

St Vincents won in overtime against Horan’s Healthstore Tigers 105-98, having tied at fulltime 85-85.

Killester won away to Limerick 87-83.

Hibernian UCD Marian won at home to Waterford Crystal 89-80.
