Sinn Féin frustrated at lack of co-operation with DUP

Sinn Féin is warning that the DUP must not be allowed to hinder the peace process.

The party's chief negotiator Martin McGuinness says he has enjoyed a healthy working relationship with the DUP in the past but is frustrated at the DUP’s stance of refusing to have direct talks with his party.

He said both parties dealt successfully with each other when the North's first assembly was in power, talking and listening to each other and doing important work outside of the media spotlight.

"Whenever the television cameras weren't there, whenever the microphones weren't there, we discussed important matters of education. We had a very constructive approach to the working of the Assembly in that regard," he said.
