New agency plans to embarrass retailers

The Consumers Association is welcoming the Tánaiste’s idea to establish a watchdog to monitor the prices charged for goods and services.

Mary Harney told the Sunday Times that she will create a new agency to embarrass retailers into charging reasonable prices.

Dermot Jewel is with the Consumers Association of Ireland. He says Ireland's rip-off culture has been allowed to grow for too long.
