Unions disappointed with Aer Rianta talks
09/01/2004 - 07:42:34Unions representing workers at Aer Rianta have described their talks with the Department of Transport about the proposed break-up of the company as disappointing.
The unions said yesterday that they were still mystified about the reasons for the plans to establish Dublin, Cork and Shannon airports as independent, competing entities.
SIPTU said the plan made no economic sense and would leave Cork and Shannon airports struggling to survive.
The unions are due to brief staff at Dublin and Shannon airports about their talks with the Government later today.
They are also due to hold talks at ICTU headquarters to decide the next move in their campaign of opposition to the proposed Aer Rianta break-up.
