GRA defends Gardaí's disciplinary record
09/01/2004 - 13:49:13The Garda Representative Association has defended the force’s record of investigating complaints against Gardaí.
The association has rejected claims that garda discipline has effectively broken down.
The statement follows a television documentary last night about a litany of abuse, perjury and abuse of power allegations against the Gardaí.
The documentary also suggested that the Gardaí as an organisation were turning a blind eye to such abuses.
However, the GRA rejected this today and also said it fully supported calls for the appointment of a Garda Ombudsman.
