BSE case may affect Irish beef prices

Bórd Bia has claimed that the emergence of BSE in the United States could have an indirect bearing on the price of Irish beef in the coming months.

A number of countries have stopped importing American beef, after a single BSE case was discovered in Washington.

Bórd Bia’s Chief Executive Michael Duffy said most US Beef exports go to Asia, so Australia and New Zealand will benefit more than European exporters.
