October eurozone retail sales rise

Eurozone retail sales rose 0.5% in October from September, but were unchanged from a year earlier, EU statistics office Eurostat said today.

Economists had generally forecast a rise of 0.4% for the month.

By sector, food, drinks and tobacco sales rose 0.4% from September, as did non-food sales in the eurozone.

Sales of food, drinks and tobacco were up 0.5% year-on-year, while non-food sales fell 0.5% from last year.
