Jobs, growth and research key Irish priorities for EU presidency
05/12/2003 - 12:07:19The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has today outlined what his priorities will be when Ireland takes over the EU Presidency in just three weeks time.
Speaking at Dublin Castle this morning, Mr Ahern said that creating jobs, economic growth and improving on research would be the Government's key priorities.
He also said it was important for Ireland to improve our competitiveness in the future.
Further crucial talks will take place in Brussels next week on EU expansion plans.
