Competition Commission inquire into Stena P&O acquisition
07/10/2003 - 08:44:38The Competition Commission has sent an 'issues statement' to Stena Line and P&O.
This comes as part of an inquiry into Stena's acquisition of assets operated by P&O on the Irish Sea.
The statement is to form the agenda for private hearings with Stena and P&O about the effects on competition of the acquisition.
The commission have said that the inquiry has so far focused on gathering information, views and evidence identifying key issues.
Although the tourist market is being considered in the inquiry, it is to focus on the freight market.
The commission has not reached any conclusions about the merger but is required to publish its report by February 6 next year.
