Obsessed scholar sent Jordan thong, court told

03/07/2003 - 13:25:49
A Greek scholar who sent explicit letters and a pink thong to glamour model Jordan was obsessed with the 25-year-old, a court heard today.

Nigel Chapman, 55, a former manager with Railtrack, sent several letters to the mother of Jordan, real name Katie Price, in a desperate bid to meet the model.

Chapman of London Road, Leigh-on-Sea, Essex even went to Miss Price’s house in Brighton in the hope of seeing her.

Today at Brighton magistrates court unemployed Chapman admitted pursuing a course of conduct which amounted to the harassment of Jordan’s mother Amy Price, also from Brighton.

The prosecution offered no evidence on an identical charge relating to Katie Price, which was formally dismissed by the magistrates.

The court heard how Amy Price received several letters between October 17 last year and January 20 this year addressed to Jordan.

Many contained references to sexually explicit translations of ancient Greek mythology.

Others contained gifts including a sexy pink thong with a butterfly design on the back.

The court heard how Chapman had read an interview with Jordan in which she said she was considering having a butterfly tattoo.

Dale Sullivan, prosecuting, said Amy Price had become the “vehicle” in Chapman’s attempt to meet Jordan, who arrived at court today but left without comment when the defendant changed his plea from not guilty to guilty.

Mr Sullivan said: “This individual, by virtue of his conduct, sending letters, and sending gifts including underwear, and by threatening visits in an attempt to meet Katie Price, has used the mother as a vehicle to attempt to make contact with Miss Price.

“With that in mind this man was obsessed with the model Jordan.”
