Manchester City get €2.7m cash boost

04/06/2003 - 08:35:45
Manchester City are to benefit from a £2m (€2.7m) windfall after being handed a place in next season’s UEFA Cup.

Kevin Keegan’s men were handed a place in the qualifying round of the competition through their standing in the Fair Play table, even though they only finished ninth in the Barclaycard Premiership.

However, the move has activated a clause in the Blues’ long-standing deal with BSkyB which will see them receive £1m (€1.39m).

The rest of the cash, which will also come through the satellite broadcaster, has been earned by staying in the Premiership for a second successive season.
