Tribesmen come good against Leitrim

Galway 2-13 Leitrim 1-7
A powerful second half performance from John O'Mahony's Galway insured that they coasted to victory against a brave Leitrim team in a keenly-contested Connacht semi-final at Carrig-on-Shannon.

Leitrim started well with a goal in the opening minute from centre-forward Seamus Quinn after Galway's Michael Donnelan had lost possession.

In fact Leitrim surprisingly held the lead for over 20 minutes of the first half.

But Galway, with Joe Bergin and Kevin Walsh dominant at centre-field, eventually assumed the lead and took a one point advantage into half time.

On the resumption Galway found the net through Michael Meehan and it was one way traffic after that.

When Derek Savage goaled from a penalty late in the half the game was over as a contest.
