Politicians prepare for Old Trafford kick-off
01/06/2003 - 09:25:59Government and opposition TDs are teaming up later this morning to play against their British counterparts in a soccer match at Old Trafford.
The Irish squad will include Environment Minister Martin Cullen and Fine Gael's Richard Bruton. Kick-off is scheduled for 11am.
Fine Gael Senator Joe McHugh says the Ireland squad is ready for the challenge.
"I think it's going to be a bit of a carnival event, a bit of fun, a bit of craic, but also its also got the 'old enemy' ingredient as well.
"I don't think it's going to be up there with Stuttgart '88 or anything like that. We've just decided to go for it. We're up for the challenge and looking forward to it."
