Butchers hit out at Competition Authority boss

The Competition Authority Chairman Dr John Fingleton has come under fire from the Associated Craft Butchers of Ireland.

The group say that they are astonished and alarmed at comments made by Dr Fingleton in relation to the growth of hyperstores in Ireland.

Pat Brady, Chief Executive of the ACBI wants the Tanaiste to clarify whether it is proper for the chairman of a statutory body to comment on matters which he may later decide.

The competition chairman Mr Fingleton has said that he wants large stores such as IKEA introduced to curb spiralling prices.
