Down Syndrome group slams ministers
28/05/2003 - 07:42:29The president of Down Syndrome Ireland launched a scathing attack on Irish politicians who try to associate themselves with the upcoming Special Olympics.
Alan Crosbie said Government ministers have arranged constant photo opportunities with disabled athletes to improve their own image at a time of major cutbacks in services for people with disabilities.
He said these photo opportunities suggested a level of Government support for people with disabilities which was far beyond reality.
