Cullen not satisfied with Sellafield response
Environment Minister Martin Cullen has raised Irish concerns about safety at the Sellafield nuclear plant with British Energy Minister Brian Wilson.
The two men met in Dublin to discuss radioactive discharges into the Irish Sea, access to Sellafield for the Radiological Protection Institute of Ireland and reports of a leaking roof at a radioactive waste storage facility at the plant.
Speaking afterwards, Mr Cullen said the Government was still not satisified that the British had adequately addressed concerns about Sellafield.
He said: "I acknowledge that in recent times there has been a much better exchange of information, but it's not at a level that I think is satisfactory from the Irish people's point of view.
"It's certainly not satisfactory from the Government's point of view."
