Ahern defends Govt economic record
28/05/2003 - 11:34:11Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has defended the Government's handling of the economy.
During leaders' questions in the Dail, opposition leaders attacked Mr Ahern over rising inflation, increased costs and reduced competitiveness.
However, Mr Ahern insisted that the economy was being managed well.
"We still believe that we can bring inflation down, honour our pay commitments, look after our welfare increases and continue to grow employment in this country and honour the commitments right across the board," he said.
