Marsden in FA Cup fitness battle
12/05/2003 - 10:43:04Southampton midfielder Chris Marsden is battling to be fit for Saturday’s FA Cup final.
The 34-year-old has missed Southampton’s last two matches because of knee ligament damage and fears he may not recover in time to face Arsenal at the Millennium Stadium.
Marsden said: “It is not good. I can’t even run at the moment and time is running out.
“I had a scan last week and will have another with an injection this week to see if it will ease the injury. That might get me through the final but I would want to be training beforehand and that may not be possible.
“I don’t want to turn up at Cardiff for the final without having trained for two weeks or more.”
