Troubled plane lands at Shannon safely

A plane flying from London to Canada has been forced to make an emergency landing at Shannon airport because of engine failures.

The pilot declared an emergency when the third engine on the aircraft had to be shut down.

There were 260 passengers on board the flight.

The plane, en route to Gangdor in Canada, landed safely at Shannon at 4.45pm this afternoon.

The aircraft is now being repaired and will resume its journey later this evening.
