Two Palestinians killed in Israeli raid
27/03/2003 - 08:29:43Two Palestinian policemen were killed today when Israeli troops hunting suspected militants raided Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza.
The town is close to the Israeli border, and Palestinian militants often launch mortars and short-range Qassam rockets at Israeli targets from there.
Ten tanks rolled in soon after midnight, and a gun battle ensued during which two missiles were fired by an Israeli helicopter, said the Israeli commander.
Witnesses said the Palestinian policemen were killed by the missiles.
Fifteen Palestinians were wounded, including seven members of the security forces, hospital officials said.
