Capriati takes place in semis
27/03/2003 - 06:07:08Jennifer Capriati beat Meghann Shaughnessy 4-6 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 in the quarter-finals of the Nasdaq-100 Open.
Shaughnessy was four points from victory in the second-set tiebreaker - but her opponent then clicked into gear.
And Capriati then held her last five service games to win in two-and-a-half hours.
Shaughnessy committed 48 unforced errors and Capriati 41, and each blew an easy shot in the tiebreaker.
Capriati will play the winner of the game between Justine Henin-Hardenne and Chanda Rubin in the semis, while Kim Clijsters plays Serena Williams in the other match.
