Robbie records theme for Rowan Atkinson movie
Robbie Williams has recorded the theme tune to Rowan Atkinson’s latest film Johnny English, it was announced today.
The star teamed up with Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer to write the track called A Man For All Seasons.
Williams’s inclusion on the film soundtrack could help to boost his profile in the US where Atkinson’s last movie Bean was a major hit.
He penned the lyrics, while Zimmer – who scored Gladiator and won an Academy Award for The Lion King – came up with the music.
The film also features Natalie Imbruglia in her first acting role, with whom Williams had a brief fling.
Atkinson stars as a bumbling secret agent who has to rescue the crown jewels from a scheming French business magnate.
It is the second time Williams has worked with movie producers Working Title - he earlier featured on the soundtrack to Bridget Jones’s Diary with Have You Met Miss Jones?.
The company’s music supervisor Nick Angel said: “Robbie was particularly excited about writing a theme song about the character in the movie rather than a song whose lyrics have little relevance to the film in question.
“The collaboration between Robbie and Hans was highly successful.”
Johnny English is released on April 11.
