Daniels to remain in hospital
Entertainer Paul Daniels will remain in hospital for at least another night after being diagnosed as suffering from an infection, his spokesman said today.
The 64-year-old magician was admitted to hospital on the Isle of Wight after falling ill as he prepared to go on stage with his one-man show.
There were fears he had suffered a heart attack but tests showed he was suffering from some kind of infection.
He remains in St Mary’s Hospital in Newport where doctors are continuing to monitor his condition, a hospital spokesman said.
His wife and former assistant, Debbie McGee, has travelled to the Isle of Wight to be with him.
Daniels was due to appear in his show, An Audience With Paul Daniels, in Shanklin on Tuesday night but complained of feeling unwell and was taken to hospital.
His spokesman said the entertainer was feeling exhausted after a recent hectic touring schedule which included a recent stint in Australia.
