Israeli troops surround Jenin
11/09/2001 - 07:51:42Israeli troops and tanks have surrounded the West Bank town of Jenin in retaliation for a suicide bombing by an Israeli-Arab that killed three civilians in the northern town of Nahariya at the weekend.
Israel has said Palestinian militants from Jenin conspired with the Arab to carry out the attack.
The Israeli army has not entered the town, but four Palestinians were wounded, two of them seriously, in exchanges of gunfire with the soldiers.
Israel has said that most of the suicide bombers who have carried out attacks in Israel in recent months came from Jenin.
