Six Nations: Re-scheduled Six Nations games in doubt
11/09/2001 - 07:11:41Ireland’s re-scheduled Six Nations rugby games against England, Scotland and Wales could be cancelled because of the re-emergence of foot-and-mouth disease in the English countryside.
The games in Dublin, Edinburgh and Cardiff were postponed earlier this year when the disease first emerged in Britain and Ireland.
Irish farmers now want the Government to examine if the games should be permanently cancelled because of the new risk of foot-and-mouth disease spreading to Ireland.
Yesterday, the National Ploughing Championships were called off due to the foot-and-mouth threat.
