35,000 tonnes of Easter egg wrapping needs recycling

Repak has urged people to recycle Easter egg boxes in the coming weeks.

The Government-sponsored recycling promotion body said Irish people will consume enough Easter eggs this year to create a monster egg more than 10 times the height of Liberty Hall.

Spokesperson Darrell Crowe said households will generate more than 35,000 tonnes of used packaging this Easter.

He has asked that people recycle not only the cardboard boxes but also the plastic and foil packaging.
