English removed from Gaeltacht place names

Place names on signposts in Gaeltacht areas will only be Irish from today.

English versions of place names have been removed from the signs, as part of plans to give equal status to the Irish language.

The new regulations introduced by Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs Minister Eamonm O Cuiv come into legal effect today.
