Russia closes part of border after SARS case

A Russian cadmitted to a hospital in a city on the Chinese border was formally diagnosed with SARS today, becoming the country’s first official case

Denis Soinikov had been undergoing weeks of testing in the hospital in Blagoveshchensk. He had been living in a hotel where about half the residents are Chinese.

Russia, which has a long border with China, has closed some border points and initiated mandatory medical examinations at others.
